Men’s Rhinoplasty
Men who are looking to regain self-confidence by reshaping the appearance of their nose may want to talk to one of South Florida’s leading plastic surgeons, Dr. Humberto Palladino, about the possibilities of rhinoplasty. Getting a nose job is often a very straightforward procedure that can truly enhance the shape and look of a man’s face. Men with noses that are either too small or too large often feel awkward in social situations or when meeting romantic interests.
With the newest technologies available, rhinoplasty in South Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, North Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and the surrounding areas can be done quite simply within the privacy of our top-notch facility. Our talented team will correct, reshape and redefine the male nose to appear more in line with the shape of his face.
A More Attractive Nose Can Improve Your Facial Structure
The first step to getting male rhinoplasty is to meet with Dr. Palladino for a private consultation. Our amazing Vectra 3D imaging technology will be explained to you, and it will capture images of your “before” and potential “after” photos so that you can view the end results prior to making the decision to go through with rhinoplasty or not.
Dr. Palladino is one of South Florida’s most trusted and talented board-certified plastic surgeons. He specializes in male cosmetic procedures. His patients have been very pleased with their results and feel more confident in work or social situations after their nose fully recovers. And the procedure is not painful. Many times, Dr. Palladino can combine rhinoplasty for men with other services, such as a facelift or chin augmentation.
Has anyone ever said you have a “big nose?” Or, have you damaged your nose in the past and now desire to have the crookedness or bumps straightened out? Now is the time to do something for yourself and get the nose you’ve always wanted! Men who typically search for nose job surgery in South Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton, North Palm Beach, and the surrounding areas have:
- A nose that is crooked or asymmetrical
- Noses that appear too large for the size of the face
- A wide nose
- Previously broken or damaged nose that needs repair
- Sinus or other problems that cause discomfort
- Tipped or upturned nostrils that are either too big or too small
The Procedure – What to Expect
After analyzing the corrections needed with the Vectra 3D imaging, Dr. Humberto Palladino will point out the type of nose job techniques that will be necessary to improve the appearance of your nose. Everyone is different; therefore every nose job assessment will be entirely up to the individual. After Dr. Palladino meets with you, he will explain whether an open or closed rhinoplasty procedure is best.
The difference between an open and a closed rhinoplasty lies in what the surgeon can see while he is working. An open rhinoplasty is typically reserved for complex procedures in which the plastic surgeon looks at the inside of the nose with great precision; this is often necessary when the nose has been previously damaged. The results are long lasting and highly favorable.
In a closed rhinoplasty operation, the surgeon will follow the inside of the nostrils with several small incisions. However, the inside of the nose is never revealed, thereby yielding no evidence of the nose job after it heals. The scars are barely visible, if at all. The closed nose job is not a good fit for everyone, depending on how extensive the work required is. For men who only need “a little tweaking,” rather than a comprehensive operation, the closed rhinoplasty is often chosen.
Preparing For and What to Expect with Rhinoplasty
As with any type of facial or corrective surgery, you must be ready for the day it happens. Dr. Humberto Palladino has performed hundreds of nose jobs for men throughout his plastic surgery career, and he is able to put his clients at ease. Though complications associated with nose job are relatively rare, every surgery comes with some risk. Healing varies depending on the patient and the extent of the work done to his nose. We recommend not drinking or eating at least eight hours prior to rhinoplasty, since anesthesia will be needed.
Upon arrival, the sedatives and anesthesia will be administered. The choice of either twilight sedation or general anesthesia will be discussed beforehand, during your initial consultation. Most people opt for the latter, as you will not remember or feel anything while the surgery takes place. However, the twilight sedation gives you a faster recovery time.
To lessen swelling, the surgeon tapes the nasal bridge and supratip — which is the area just above the tip of the nose — to give it slight pressure. This helps to push out any trapped fluids, as well as reduce the swelling by putting pressure on those tissues in the nose. You may need to keep the tape there for a few weeks following the surgery, but again this is only on a case-by-case basis and you will have to ask Dr. Palladino in your consultation.
Rhinoplasty is a common facial procedure, so it’s important not to worry or feel anxiety. Make sure to avoid shaving, tanning and cigarette smoking prior to the nose job procedure. Do not put any lotions on your face or take any unknown prescriptions and over-the-counter pain medications, such as Advil, ibuprofen or aspirin.
The Recovery
After the male rhinoplasty cosmetic surgery is complete, you will be delivered to the recovery room before release so that the staff can keep an eye on you and ensure you are safe, comfortable and in as little pain as possible. If needed, you will be given some medication to ease the pain.
You should ask a friend or relative to bring you to the procedure, since most patients feel groggy and unable to drive home for the afternoon after rhinoplasty takes place.
Whether your surgeon uses an open or closed technique, your nose will be swollen for anywhere between 2 to 12 weeks following rhinoplasty. For some people, it may take a couple of months (and a more complicated procedure). You will need to wear a little “nose cast” to prevent your nose from any damage. Bruising, swelling and soreness are normal. Some people go out in public after a couple of weeks, but this is entirely up to you — everyone recovers differently. People who know you might notice a change; however the casual observer will probably not notice anything unusual.
Men who have had a bony hump removed during rhinoplasty sometimes experience swelling for longer periods because of its position on the middle of the nasal bridge. If you feel like your upper lip is stiff, this is quite normal and nothing to worry about — even if the soreness lasts for a few weeks. Laughing, smiling and other facial emotions might strain your face a little bit, but this too will subside over time. Make sure to follow all of the advice you are given by Dr. Palladino and his staff. They are very experienced and knowledgeable and can help you recover as quickly and easily as possible.
Avoid sun exposure because it can make your skin look red or splotchy, and your nose is vulnerable to sunburn. You should always wear high SPF sunscreens, but this is especially important right after nose surgery. It is an absolute must to remember this; otherwise you run the risk of tenderness or noticeable redness. Other than that, the risks with rhinoplasty are very similar to other types of plastic surgery for men. Extra swelling, strokes, blood clots, infection or adverse anesthetic reactions are possible, although rare. Dr. Palladino likes to put his clients at ease about the rhinoplasty surgery and has gone through extensive licensing and training to ensure top-notch results for his patients.
Pricing
Dr. Palladino’s prices are in line with other plastic surgery facilities throughout the U.S. Dr. Palladino will need to evaluate your particular case to give you an accurate price, although most fall within the neighborhood of $4,500 to $10,000. Again, this varies greatly depending on the type of procedure for your particular nose, the anesthesia used and other factors. We would like to encourage you to come in for a consultation to see if men’s rhinoplasty is right for you.
